CDC Birth Defects Surveillance Toolkit
This example of social/behavioral change strategy is from a program designed to teach healthcare professionals from rural countries how to set up a birth defects surveillance system. We provided technical and instructional design to the CDC to produce an online toolkit and job aids for professionals to set up their own, in-country, birth defects surveillance program. The targeted audience location is Southeast Asia, Africa and other rural areas with limited resources. The birth defects surveillance toolkit includes a surveillance manual, photo atlas (for diagnosing and coding) and a facilitator’s guide – all designed to assist developing health units set up their own birth defects surveillance programs
